Meaning from the Government Shutdown

My take….

A President who doesn’t care about anything but his own political agenda to remake the United States into a version of the European Union complete with a Statist economic agenda. A POTUS who lives with the imperial notion that he can do no wrong and that he has a right to punish the People for their refusal to bow to his superior will.

A Democratic party that only cares about implementing the President’s socialist economic agenda, relying mostly on the practice of identity-politics in order to divide and conquer  the political sphere. Disingenuous and bullying liars who consider themselves morally superior because of their political leanings.

An insipid GOP full of spineless, useless politicos who are only interested in their own powerbase to the point that they will eat their own.

The reality that the majority of capital hill know-it-alls do not care about, or honor, the US Constitution.

That We The People are basically on our own if we want to save what the foundling fathers tried to build and what we have worked hard to achieve..

****

By the way I also blame this turn of events on the 3 million republicans who did not come out to vote for Romney, either because he wasn’t conservative enough or due to the fact that he was a Mormon. They decided that they were going to teach the GOP  a lesson about their power in the party. So they sacrificed the country with their temper tantrum.

The GOP establishment in turn decided to go after the Tea Party and conservatives in order to maintain their hold on the Party. Instead of standing strong and united in the face of opposition they have become petulant and infantile. Whoring before the cameras to see who can get the most airtime.

To hell with the lot of you. Don’t call. Don’t write. And you had better not ask for one freakin’ penny. I am going to take that money and put it aside so I can afford the higher medical costs for the care my family will continue to need without having to rely on the government’s permission to survive.

I agree as to Obama. I agree as to the democrat party. I agree as to “An insipid GOP full of spineless, useless politicos who are only interested in their own powerbase to the point that they will eat their own.” I agree as to, “The reality that the majority of capital hill know-it-alls do not care about, or honor, the US Constitution.”
I voted for Romney but we disagree that the blame for this turn of events rests with “the 3 million republicans who did not come out to vote for Romney”. While many including myself wished he were more conservative, IMO it is not his lack of conservatism that led to so many not voting. It was the undeniable certainty that “an insipid GOP full of spineless, useless politicos who are only interested in their own powerbase to the point that they will eat their own” would NEVER push for the reforms needed to save this nation. It was their shared perception that the GOP establishment “have become petulant and infantile. Whoring before the cameras to see who can get the most airtime.”
Had Romney been elected, what would he have accomplished with such a party?
If it is true that, “We The People are basically on our own if we want to save what the foundling fathers tried to build and what we have worked hard to achieve.” then voting for RINO’s or more accurately, Conservatives-in-name-only will NOT result in appreciable progress.
Here’s what I am proposing until convinced otherwise (or amended); There is at this point, only one way to stop the left. Elect enough Tea Party and Libertarian representatives to the House in 2014 and 2016. Elect enough to create a strong enough minority block that the House will be prevented from passing any future raise in taxes and preventing any raise in the debt ceiling.
A shutdown should not be feared, it should be sought.
That would effectively force Congress and the President to cut spending and prioritize spending cuts. It would force the Federal government to operate within a budget, whether formalized or not, the effect would be the same.
The GOP has never seriously pursued spending cuts. This is so because the GOP’s Big Donors do not support the constitutional principle of a limited government. They support the highly regulated capitalism that allows them to leverage their financial resources in buying political influence, all in service of increasing their economic and political power.
When the dems, RINO’s and MSM scream, that block could seize the moral high ground by stating that it is an indefensible obscenity for today’s adults to steal from future generations. Calmly, firmly and irrevocably state that since Congress, the President and many Americans refuse to act responsibly, the adults in the House are compelled, by their Constitutional obligations and duty to enforce fiscal sanity. That while WHERE cuts will be made is negotiable, spending cuts themselves WILL happen.
Such a voting block in the House could also prevent any retaliatory threats of impeachment from being used against them.
Let the President and Congress finally be held accountable for the choices they make, let them explain why Obama’s military golf course, the EPA, Dept of Energy and Education, ATF, etc. are more important than Food Stamps, Soc Sec, Medicare, Aid to Dependent Families, the Military and the Border Patrol.
There are easily enough Republican districts in the House to accomplish a Tea Party/Libertarian block if conservative voters elect them. Voting for a GOP Presidential candidate in 2016 makes sense, IF such a truly conservative block is elected to the House in 2014 & 2016. That block will be able to force a GOP President to act responsibly.
The means to stop the left exists, all it takes are the desire and will to do so and the recognition that the GOP is NEVER going to act responsibly, unless they are forced to do so.

Actually I think the difference is that we would not have Obamacare in its insipid form, because as we have seen executive directives would have just stopped it, if the Senate would not have gone along with unfunding or even overturning it. There would also have more sway over a democratic Senate if the GOP had the House and the White House just like under Reagan. A GOP controlled WH, any GOP is better than what is there with the DNC.

I also do not put too much stock in any libertarians, even though I do like Cruz. There is theory and there is reality.

      • If by difference you are referring to what would have happened had Romney won, there is no doubt that there would have been no ObamaCare type of legislation.

No question, in the short run, any GOP is better than what is there with the DNC. In the long run, a slower walk to the gallows still results in a date with the hangman.

i too have my issues with libertarian theory being taken to ludicrous lengths. But having some in the House, standing with Tea Party types is IMO acceptable. On their own, they will accomplish little of lasting significance.
