There is something ironic about a dictator who destroys his own people’s sense of well-being telling another nation that they cannot think of themselves as exceptional. Here An oligarch whose main purpose is to create a world in which he is the sole leader telling others they cannot allow for individuality. A tyrant hell-bent on ruling the world decides to define what is right and wrong with another nation and what is in effect the right of the world to respond to evil. The sad thing is that there are those in this alternative universe who listen and think that there are truly good intentions behind these cynical tyrannical Machiavellian machinations. There are those in the West who are so devoid of any sense of self-respect that they take to heart when evil chastises them.
Exceptionalism is about standing up for what is right in this world. It is believing that all peoples are entitled to the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It is the belief that limits on governmental power is paramount in a free society and that free will is part and parcel of the human experience. It is the belief that the world is better off when people choose their own future instead of being treated as if they are itinerant children merely existing for the good of those who are elite and entitled. Exceptional nations do not wish to rule the world. It is exceptional nations that wish to help others rule themselves by providing the mechanics by which others can access their own humanity.
It is a disgrace that anyone who believes in freedom thinks this tyrant is trustworthy. This tyrant backs a genocidal leader in league with those who wish to rule the world by applying a Messianic death cult. He supplies and supports the Shia axis, which is trying to destroy western freedoms. This tyrant denies the basic freedoms of speech, association and self-identity to his own people, and yet he thinks he can dictate to the rest of the world how to function and define what is international norms. Sadly there are many, frightened, spineless, useless individuals in the world today who actually listen and think this man is worthy of a podium.
Delusion is endemic in the world today. It is a refusal by so many to think that evil can be corralled without actually doing anything physical. A few choice words, a few sanctions that are generally ignored, a cross look is what some think pass for action. They believe that diplomacy is truly an active way to stop the spread of genocide and destruction. They think giving the keys to the kingdom to those that would destroy the human soul is a way out of the quagmire of war.
There is nothing more foolish than those who happily put their future into the hands of those who would actually destroy the future. Sadly the West is full of the foolish, the delusional and the moronic. Putin is Stalin redux, merely without the communist moniker. Stalin made common cause with Hitler. The world looked away and did nothing. Today Putin makes common cause with today’s genocidal evil and the world holds him up to be a diplomatic savior.
Stalin’s Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, the appeasement by Chamberlain and the ignoring of the call for genocide against the Jewish people all led to a world war. It was this acquiescence by the lands of freedom that led to the belief by evil that they could rule with impunity. It lead to evil believing that there is no one and nothing to stop them from bringing the world to the brink of destruction. The world has now entered the next Act of this very same play.
Simply because the names have changed does not alleviate the world from responsibility to hold evil at bay. Timidity and fear by the west in the name of diplomacy is a fool’s errand. The foreign policy clowns of Foggy Bottom have blundered out of their own clown car by allowing evil to set the rules for what constitutes international norms, access to human rights and when a nation can and cannot defend the helpless.
The people may only have their voice to stop this betrayal of freedom by the west’s elected leaders. But the voice is a powerful weapon. We, the exceptional; We, those who have freedoms, need to use our voices loudly and often, until our clarion call to do what is right, is heard.
