About

I have taken Liberty’s Spirit in a new direction. My old blog of this name was shut down. Stay with me and we are going to review and revamp our old ideas and set a new path. But certain realities hold true….

I am neither right nor left. Republican nor Democrat. I am simply an American, beholden to the US Constitution and all that she stands for. I do not believe in gray areas when it comes to our liberty.

This blog is also pro-Israel. Antisemitism, whether dressed up as anti-Israel rhetoric or as Jew-hatred-filled-dog-whistles will not be tolerated, anymore than racism, misogyny or any other form of ignorance.

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Benjamin Franklin

“The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.” Thomas Jefferson

“A Constitution of Government, once changed from freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever.” John Adams

“Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there, no constitution, no law, no court can save it. While it lies there, it needs no constitution, no law, no court to save it.” Learned Hand

I just read your answer to, “What does Christmas mean to you?” on Trevor Loudon’s New Zeal blog. I then clicked on your link and that is how I ended up here.

Reading the Memphis school part of the blog upset me so, that I had to write something to you. I did not finish reading the rest of your answer including your evolution to what Christmas means now. I have been an educator for 34 years and never treated students the way those teachers treated you. I am so ashamed to even call them teachers!

I have taught Christians (of ALL sorts of denominations), Jews, Muslims, radical blacks, conservative blacks, bad kids, good kids, kids from broken homes, rich kids … you get the point.

All I want you to know is that not everyone is like that, as I am sure you have found out now. I am so sorry you were put through that as a child. NEVER should have happened, especially in the US of A that I know and love!

      Dear Danny,

Thank you for your kind words and concern. As I wrote in my story, the USA today is so much different than the one I grew up in. Also, I have met many religious Christians along the way, without whom both of my sons who have autism would not be as accomplished as they are.

I think that life has meany messages that we are given. This one for me was that, it is possible to overcome other people’s ignorance and strive to be the best that we can be. Please finish my story. You will see that the Christmas season is one of happiness and hope for me today, because I was lucky enough to meet wonderful people throughout the years who are the true symbols and backbone of America.

      Elise
